MEETING MINUTES

Fire Department Board Meeting

August 14, 2018

 

Meeting called to order by Mayor Chris Tuter at 7:05 p.m. on August 14, 2018, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Answering roll call:  Mayor Tuter and Trustees Lisa Cookson, Shelly Martin, Rick Trevathan, and Norma Crockett..  .  Quorum was declared.  Fire Chief Larry Sanders, Jr. was absent, Police Chief Larry Sanders, and Town Clerk Janice Sharp were present.  Lacey Miller, Pattie Miller were signed in and No visitors were signed in to speak.                                                                                                                                                                                                          

  1.                                                                                          Fire department report for August 2018 was given by Fire Chief Sanders, reporting 1 medical call, 2 house fires in Langley, 1 brush fire, Event stand by- 2, fire works show and Aquapalooza, 0 off-road vehicle accident, 1 training class, 1 fire department meeting, 1 storm watch, and 3500 gallons of water used.

 

  1. a) Maintenance report on Fire Department vehicles- Passed due to not having all backup prepared.

 

  1. Mayor Tuter made a motion, with Trustee Trevathan seconding the motion, to approve the Meeting Minutes of the Regular Session meeting of the Fire Department Board on July 10, 2018,: voting Tuter, yes; Cookson, yes; Martin, obstain (absent for July meeting); Trevathan, yes; Crockett, yes. Motion carried.  

 

  1. Shelly Martin made a motion, with Trustee Norma seconding the motion, for the Open house/Fireman’s Ball in the new edition of the fire station on Lorton street, to be set for Saturday, October 6, 2018, doors open at 5pm, dinner at 5:30pm, DJ starts at 7pm-10pm clean up by 11pm.  Tickets-$15-adults, includes children 11-and up, $5-children, includes children 10 and under, bottle water, coffee and tea to drink, menu to be hammered out per donations.  Voting:  Tuter, yes; Cookson, yes; Martin, yes; Trevathan, yes and Crockett, yes.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Old Business- No old business

 

  1. Unforeseen Business- That the Marmic Fire & Safety PO, Sharp Testing Services PO, and the Comdata PO for the fire department goes to county and is not paid by us. We omitted the POs.

 

  1. Comments from the Fire Department Board- No comments

 

  1. Approval of Adjournment. Mayor Tuter made a motion, with Trustee Martin seconding the motion, to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m.  .
